‌Digital Wonderland represents ‘utopia’—the dream society. From as far back as Rousseau and his thoughts on nature and Plato’s musings on law, we’ve been exposed to the ideas of the perfect society—utopia—of which, of course does not and has never existed. Instead, the ideals of utopia continue to fill the dreams of thinkers in a continuous line of time and space similar to reality. How has this ideal, that has existed over thousands of years, shifted from what it was in the past, to today’s modern thought?
Digital Wonderland creates art that marries Eastern beauty and modern technology and delves into the uncharted territory of ‘New Form Arts.’ This multimedia exhibition provides visitors an experience of the futuristic arts, such as augmented reality, projection mapping, neon art, and media performance.
The artwork was produced by the Live Animation class of Seoul Institute of the Arts and was first showcased at the Namsan Arts Center in South Korea from December 11-14, 2017. The exhibit, which was generously supported by the Korean Ministry of Education, is reproduced with students from Seoul Arts, CultureHub LA, CSUN and The Center for Visual Communication (VISCOM).
